🌟PTC Corner

The Great Skate 2026 is right around the corner!

The Great Skate Committee has been working hard to plan an epic end-of-year party, and now we need YOUR help for the final details! We are looking for volunteers to help set-up, run and clean-up on the actual day of the Great Skate, Friday June 12th. We need to fill all of the positions to have our event run smoothly. Please see the needed positions below. Also - this year we are offering community service hours to Truckee High Schoolers! If you have a high schooler, scroll to the spots available at the bottom of the page.

Parenting in the Age of Screens - Signing Off for Summer!

With summer around the corner, we at the PITAS crew wanted to sign off with a few resources that may be helpful as those unstructured days have the kids begging for screentime more often than usual.
  • Boredom Jar or Menu - One key suggestion is to come up with a list of screen-free ideas with your kids at the beginning of the summer that you can pull out when later they inevitably tell you they’re bored. There are lots of lists out there on the internet, including this one and this one
  • PITAS Resources - Here is a folder with some of the slide decks and handouts we’ve had at workshops this year, including a step-by-step guide to setting parental controls.
  • PITAS WhatsApp Group - We’ve started a WhatsApp group for any parent to join, where we can share resources, stories, questions, etc. You can join using this link or this QR code.T

That’s it for now–we hope you all have a fantastic summer and we look forward to planning monthly meetings for you again next year!
