September 7-11, 2026

📢 Important Info

Greetings!

We are off to an amazing start to the 2026-27 school year! Some logistical reminders as we begin our third week:

  • Middle School start is 7:30am; Elementary start is 9:10am.
  • Elementary morning drop-off begins at 8:55 am (if your child is not in Morning Program); please do not have students here before then as we have no campus supervision.
  • Any time you are waiting in the pick-up area for students, please turn your car off. DO NOT LET YOUR CAR IDLE FOR LONG PERIODS. We are trying to keep students and staff healthy and not expose anyone to unsafe car exhaust fumes.
  • When walking onto campus, make sure you park in the parking lot; do not leave cars unattended in the driving lanes during drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Please control your speed entering and exiting the campus, particularly during middle school drop-off when the parking lot is mostly empty. We have had several close calls, so we ask you to be patient and tolerant drivers.
  • All SELS visitors, classroom volunteers, chaperones and drivers on fieldwork MUST check in at the office to receive a badge. You need to bring your driver’s license with you. Feel free to ask anyone in the office if you need assistance with this process.
  • Lots of fieldwork coming up! Please be sure your student is prepared: dressed appropriately for the weather, proper footwear, sunscreen, snacks and/or lunch packed.

We appreciate your help with these matters. Besides helping our program run more effectively, you are setting your children up for success and preparing them to make the best of our upcoming school year.

📆 Our Schedule This Week

Monday: Labor Day ~ No School
Wednesday: Summit Swirl Fundraiser ~Join us at Summit Swirl for a scoop (or two!) in support of SELS. This locally owned frozen yogurt shop is a Truckee favorite, and every purchase that day helps fund programs for our students.

📆 Mark Your Calendar

9/14: Picture Day! Be sure to be at school on time & bring your form (it will be sent home this week so check your child's backpack). SELS Board Meeting ~ 5:30pm in Conference Room A at the District Office.
9/15: Community Crew ~ 9:15 am. Formerly Community Meetings, these are student-led meetings for our whole school. They provide an avenue to feel more connected to our program and community. This year, they will have a new, engaging format. You won’t want to miss it!
9/16: Minimum Day ~ Middle school release 11:45 am; Elementary school release 1:00 pm. PTC Meeting ~ 5:30pm at Tahoe Donner Lodge. All are welcome! Come meet the crew, hear what's planned for the year, and share your ideas.
