To keep our community informed regarding TTUSD Athletics, we want to share that a TTUSD Special Board Meeting has been called for tomorrow, Wednesday, October 28. During this session, Superintendent Kramer will ask the Board to consider and act upon a "Stay Agreement" between TTUSD, the California Department of Education (CDE), and a law firm representing a coalition of community stakeholders and taxpayers. The "Stay Agreement" that will be discussed is accessible via the posted Board agenda
[linked here].
In short, the three groups have agreed that enforcement of CDE’s corrective actions should be stayed—meaning legally paused – pending the outcome of potentially impactful cases on appeal. As a result, the current status quo of TTUSD’s participation in the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (“NIAA”) will remain, instead of transitioning to the California Interscholastic Federation (“CIF”).
We want the community to understand that this Stay will be temporary while three specific legal cases work their way through the Ninth Circuit courts. It is possible that in the end, the CDE will force TTUSD to move to CIF but, while these cases are resolved, TTUSD will remain in the NIAA.
The School Board and District wish to acknowledge the work of the community stakeholders and its counsel. While the District actively participated in all discussions to which it was invited, the stakeholders' law firm led these agreement negotiations.
